ABOUT SAREX 2017


SAREX is the annual California Search and Rescue Exercise sponsored by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), in cooperation with a host agency.  It is the weekend after Labor Day, and rotates annually throughout California county venues.  SAREX 2017 is September 8th-10th and is being sponsored by the Merced County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team.

Unfortunately, due to park regulations, horses will not be allowed at this event. We do however, have a class scheduled specifically for mounted search and rescue personnel. The class  “Equine in the back country” is being instructed by Dr. Byerly, a well known and respected large animal veterinarian. The course scheduled for Saturday, Sept  9,  will cover first aid and medical emergencies involving horses.

  • What services are available to RV Campers?
    • A limited number of RV camp sites are available.  They will be assigned in the order of confirmed paid registrations.  There will be power and water located at these sites.  A central dump station is available.
  • Will there be showers located on-site?
    • Yes, limited showers on-site.  There are also showers located at the T/A Truck Stop located at 12310 South Highway 33, Santa Nella, CA 95322.

  • When does the Early Registration pricing end?
    • Early Registration ends August 10, 2017.  
    • Payment by check needs to be post marked on or August 10, 2017 to receive Early Registration Pricing.  All checks after August 11, 2017 will need to reflect the Late Registration pricing.
  • Will checks be accepted at the registration booth at SAREX 2017?
    • Yes, checks will be accepted at Registration at the Late Registration pricing.
